Description

This non-motorized trail follows an old roadbed for 0.5 miles, then winds through a mixed conifer forest and along the shoreline of Bead Lake providing visitors with spectacular views of the lake. A spur trail #127.1 is located at the north end of Bead Lake. It crosses Lodge Creek and follows the shoreline for one mile where it comes to a dead end.<br />

Popular trail with scenic views of the lake. Many bikers make a loop by riding the trail system to the upper trailhead where it intersects with Forest Road #3215000 and follow the road back to the lower trailhead. CAUTION: Road is narrow and windy with a moderate amount of vehicle traffic. source: fs.usda.gov

Directions

From Newport follow U.S. Highway 2 across the Pend Oreille River into Idaho and turn north on LeClerc Road (County Road 9305). Continue on County Road 9305 for 2.8 miles and turn right onto the Bead Lake Road (County Road 3029). Travel for 6 miles, turn right on Forest Road 3215000, and continue 0.5 miles to the trailhead. The lower trailhead and parking area are located adjacent to the Bead Lake Ridge Road (NFS Road 3215000). The upper trailhead is located at the eleven-mile marker on Forest Road 3215000.
